ES RESOURCE, formerly ICE ResourceMapper, was created to assist in the cataloging of resources that would be useful during an emergency. Since its inception the scope of the system has expanded to include the cataloging of procedures and resources used by various governmental agencies.
The design goal of the ES RESOURCE system is to provide a robust, secure and powerful shared records system that is easy to use. The system has been designed with redundancy in mind to assure uninterrupted access to your data records.
The system is Internet/Intranet based and is primarily accessed with a web browser. The ES RESOURCE system has been designed to allow multiple organizations to enter their own data into the system. By default any information entered into the system is available to other organizations that are using the system.
This shared approach magnifies the usefulness of the data within the system. As a user on the system you have access to your own information and the information of others that are using the system.
The data is stored using a common category structure by discipline. Supplier data, resource data, typing data and documents need only be entered once. Once entered, the data can be hooked to numerous categories.
The ES RESOURCE system can search for resources using a powerful search engine. ES RESOURCE also contains latitude/longitude logic that allows searches to be conducted for resources within a certain number of miles. This becomes important as the number of resource records increases.
Documents can be attached anywhere in the menu structure. This allows policies, procedures and notes to be published for all users or only your organization.
One of the potential design concerns with this system type involves its dependency upon the Internet or an intranet in order to access the data. To overcome this limitation we have added ES RESOURCE | SOLO, a standalone option to the system.
